The Los Angeles Lakers lost Monday night to the Brooklyn Nets 111-108. With many Laker fans in attendance, much of the crowd who showed up to Barclays Center were disappointed because the King, LeBron James was out with a groin injury suffered Saturday night in the loss to the Boston Celtics. That left it up to Luka “The Don” Doncic to salvage the evening for the Lakers but it was not able to happen. Doncic played 41 minutes and had a triple double with 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists. But without James in the lineup Brooklyn was able to blitz a lot of defenders towards Luka the entire game as he missed 18 of his 26 shots. Postgame, Luka reflected on what he could have done better. “Just make better decisions, I think we started the game doing a really good job making good decisions and then we just got out of it, “he said. “I think we played good defense early. They had like 16 points in the first quarter but then we just kind of let go of the rope. We got comfortable and we should not have done that.” The Lakers now have a record of 40-23 and have lost two straight games. Their is no set return date for James. The Lakers stay on the road going to Milwaukee Thursday night.
