The New York Liberty hit the courts for the first time this past weekend in their season opener against the Seattle Storm. New York was led by newcomer point guard Layshia Clarendon who came away as the game top scorer with 20 points. Seattle’s center Brianna Stewart and guard Jewell Lloyd scored 18 and 14 points respectively as they came out on top 87-71.
The Liberty were able to put up double-digit points in each quarter, they failed to match the Storm’s 44.2% field goal percentage as New York shot a meager 34.8% from the floor.

In her first appearance on a WNBA court, Liberty’s rookie and first-round draft pick guard Sabrina Ionescu put up 12 points of her own but missed all 8 of her three-point attempts.
The Liberty faced the Dallas Wings last night as both teams were looking for their first win of this early season.
