On February 25th, a woman traveling with her sister and mother aboard the Symphony of the Seas cruise ship discovered a camera in her bathroom, NBC News reports. The guest found the hidden camera when reaching under the sink for a toilet paper roll. The device was “affixed to the counter underneath the sink,” per the probable cause affidavit.

Following the response of ship security to the room, Arvin Joseph Mirasol, 34, an attendant responsible for cleaning cabins, was apprehended on March 3.

Mirasol, a citizen of the Philippines, was detained on the ship until it docked at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

On Mirasol’s USB stick, law enforcement discovered “numerous videos of naked females undressing” and a video of Mirasol installing a camera inside a passenger’s bathroom. Investigators also found child pornography after a thorough examination of his phone, an SD card, and a camera, according to the criminal complaint affidavit.

The filing said, “Mirasol revealed that he has been placing these cameras in the bathroom since he started working on Symphony of the Seas around December 2023.”
