The New York Liberty returned to Barclays Center Tonight with a 9-13 record in the Eastern Conference following the 2022 WNBA All-Star weekend in Chicago.

The break could be exactly what the team needed. Tuesday looks promising for New York as they face off against the Las Vegas Aces with Sabrina Ionescu who has made recent impressive strides on the court.

Ionescu led the Liberty with 31 points as they defeated the Aces 116-107 July 6. The Liberty fell to the Phoenix Mercury 84-81 on July 7, but Ionescu led the team with 22 points. She recorded the 3rd triple-double of her career in this game, tying the WNBA record for most by a single player, as tweeted by the team.

Ionescu also just won the WNBA Skills Challenge during the All-Star weekend on Saturday. She was paired with, Zoe Brooks, a high school player from the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL). The New York Liberty tweeted Ionescu’s response following the event:

“Zoe and I went into the skills competition confident I am looking to have fun. We’re happy about winning the Championship against some really great competition And I’m equally excited for tomorrow’s game.”

Ionescu led her team with 19 points in the All-Star Game. She and the Liberty must work to improve their record, but the potential is evident.
