The United States just bombed Somalia hard — right before Russian President Vladimir Putin started his full-scale military offensive against Ukraine, which has garnered suspicions of possible war crimes and earned widespread criticism.

The U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) claimed in a statement issued last week that America’s devastating drone attack from the air, which was carried out on February 24, targeted suspected al-Shabab terrorists.

Washington D.C. has conducted five airborne assault operations against Somalia since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021.

International policy experts say that progressives in America should vigorously reject an armed U.S. reaction to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine — as well as abandon what they call the irresponsible foreign policies that caused it.

According to Common Dreams, poverty-stricken Somalia has consistently been under severe aerial bombardment from the U.S. for the last 15 years.
