Malika Andrews will make history at the 2022 NBA draft as the first woman to host the league event, Sports Illustrated reports. The 27-year-old made her NBA draft debut back in 2020 as a telecast reporter.
While this is the first time Andrews is hosting the draft, she hosted the NBA draft lottery for ESPN on May 17. There, news broke that she was slated to host the draft. At the time, she shared how much the opportunity means to her.
“I am so excited to be the host of the 2022 NBA draft,” she said in a video. “It’s really kind of beyond words. We just finished the draft lottery, and I feel like that’s great training, maybe, hopefully for the draft. But, at the end of the day, I know I have a great team behind me.”
Andrew will join the likes of Jay Bilas, Kendrick Perkins, Adrian Wojnarowski, Bobby Marks and Mike Schmitz when covering the event which is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 23 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
