The Greater Queens Chapter of The Links hosted its 23rd Masquerade Ball, recently at Terrace on the Park, NY. Over 700 ‘dressed to the nines’ guests attended the premiere event. The theme was “Leading with Excellence, Serving Greater Queens with Grace” and featured a reception, program, live auction, dinner and dancing. Cheryl Wills of NY1 Spectrum and Host of In Focus was the Mistress of Ceremonies.
The Masquerade Ball serves as the organization’s major annual fundraiser supporting the Greater Queens Links Scholarship Fund and this year’s event exceeded all expectations! Never to shy away from a great cause and to give back to the underserved, the gala highlighted the adversities faced by today’s youth and their struggle to overcome through education.

Dr. Kimberly Jeffries Leonard, National President of The Links and Jacqueline Arrington-Pinkard, President of Greater Queens Chapter of The Links presented “The Exonerated 5” with the chapter’s inaugural “Phoenix Award.”
Dr. Yusef Salaam and Korey Wise accepted the award on behalf of the group.
This year’s scholarship recipient, Dane Allen, received the Murial E. Baldwin Memorial Scholarship for his outstanding academic achievements. Allen is attending Cornell University as a freshman majoring in Food Science and will receive the four-year scholarship. His interest in this field was generated by his concern over food desserts that are so prevalent in our communities.
The organization adheres to a four-facet program in its effort to enhance life in its community: National trends and services, the arts, services to youth and international trends and services.
