“What I’ve noticed over the last few months is he’s kinda used sports to divide us and that’s something I cant relate to because I know that sport was the first time I ever was around someone white… sports has never been something that divides people, its always been something that brings people together,” James told CNN on Monday.
In an interview with CNN, James was asked about how Trump has called out athletes like Colin Kaepernick for refusing to kneel during the anthem, or Steph Curry for refusing to visit the Whit House. “I believe he uses anything that’s popular to try to negate people from thinking about the positive things that they can actually be doing and try to just get our minds to not be as sharp as possible right then,” You look at Kaepernick, who was protesting something he believed in and he did it in the most calm fashion possible. Very respectful… he was knowledgable about it and everyone knew why he did it.
James and other athletes are continuing to call Trump out on his racism, and support each other while doing it.
