It’s been a wild past week to be a New York sports fan. The Yankees made the World Series for the first time since 2009, led by Giancarlo Stanton and Juan Soto – who played out of their minds in the ALCS against the Guardians. The fightin’ Mets finally fell to the Dodgers in game 6 of the NLCS, after a brilliant run in the playoffs. The Mets, who made it farther than anyone thought they would this year, have proven anything can happen in baseball. The Yanks will now face the Dodgers in the World Series, their 12th meeting and first since 1981. Games 1 and 2 will take starting Friday and Saturday in Los Angeles.

On the gridiron, the Jets and Giants just keep losing. After starting the season 2-1 with a healthy Aaron Rodgers, the Jets have now dropped 4 games in a row after losing to the Steelers 37-15. The Giants, who are also 2-5, look arguably even worse, after a blowout loss to their division rivals, the Eagles. It looks like it’s going to be another long and painful season for New York football fans.

In the WNBA, the Liberty took home their first championship in franchise history, defeating the Lynx 3-2 in the WNBA Finals. The Liberty’s star guard, Sabrina Ionescu, shot 1 of 19 in the OT winner-take-all game 5, but her team managed to escape with a victory.
