Many are calling for a boycott of Trevor Noah’s comedy tour, as a video resurfaces of an offensive joke he made in 2013. Noah made a joke about the physical appearance of indigenous Australian women during a stand up special.

“All women of every race can be beautiful, and I know some you are sitting there now going, ‘Oh Trevor, Ive never seen a beautiful aborigine.’ But you know what you say? You say, ‘Yet.'”

Noah continued: “Plus its not always about looks. Maybe aborigine women do special things, maybe they’ll just like, jump on top of you.” He then made sexual gestures and imitated a didgeridoo, a traditional indigenous instrument.

Noah received major backlash for playing into longstanding stereotypes about aboriginal people. Australia has been struggling to address indigenous issues for years, and the term Noah used, Aborigine, is outdated and considered offensive by some.
