The Knicks snapped a two-game losing streak with a 122-103 win over Washington Wizards last Saturday night. Karl Anthony Towns led all scorers with 31 points and he also pulled down 11 rebounds. Also, for the Knicks Mikal Bridges had 27 points and OG Anunoby had 23 points. The Knicks played this game again without their best player Jalen Brunson who has been out almost three weeks now with a sprained ankle.
The Knicks led by as much as 31 points in the third quarter before allowing Washington to storm back and cut the lead to four with 9:14 remaining in the game. “They are a good offensive team in terms of the pace, they can make up ground quickly on you. I thought the defense was really good in the first half. The second half we didn’t play as well defensively but overall, the rebounding was good and I thought the activity forcing turnovers was huge for us.” Knicks Head Coach Tom Thibodeau said post-game. The Knicks forced 20 Washington turnovers on the night. New York currently holds a two-and-a-half-game lead over Indiana for the 3rd playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Knicks hosted the Dallas Mavericks Tuesday night who were without guard Kyrie Irving who was lost for the season after tearing up the ACL in his left knee. The newly acquired Anthony Davis returned to the line-up after missing the last 18 games with an abductor strain when Dallas visited the Nets Monday night at Barclays Center. Davis scored 12 points playing 27 minutes in the 120-101 win. It was only the second time he suited up with Dallas.
