Red states have been trying to dismantle the Affordable Care Act ever since it was passed, and with Trump in the White House, they might have a better chance. A lawsuit to strike down the ACA has been signed by some of the states who need it most, and will suffer if it is removed.

In February of last year, 20 states came together to challenge the constitutionality of the ACA. Data shows that 9 of the 11 states with the highest rates of pre-existing conditions signed onto the lawsuit. Under the ACA, insurance companies cannot penalize people with any sort of chronic disease or ailment. President Trump will surely not provide the same benefits. Meanwhile plenty of people in these states recognize the value of their healthcare, and have as much to lose as anyone else if its is dismantled.
