The Bidding War Starts For Soto

After making their first World Series appearance for the first time in 15 years, the Yankees are hungrier than ever to get the job done in the 2025 season. To do this, New York will need to play their cards right this offseason and build off of an already successful ball club that has proven it can make a run deep into the playoffs. Of course, the biggest question is Juan Soto: Will the 26-year-old future Hall of Famer stay, or will he depart after just one year in pinstripes? The $600 million star is set to meet with several other teams this week, with the first being a fellow AL East competitor in the Toronto Blue Jays. Securing Soto’s future with the team will be the Yankees’ top priority this offseason, and as money is not an issue, they will need to convince their most valuable recent signee that he wants the rest of his legacy to be cultivated here in the Bronx.

Yankee fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as their ace, Gerrit Cole, decided to remain with them on his four-year, $144 million contract that he previously opted out of. Reliever Clay Holmes is set to hit the open market this winter and though he had some rough patches throughout the season, his overall resume is a reminder of the above-average stuff he can bring to the mound. While a return to the Yankees might allow him to rebound and regain consistency, they could decide that letting him go might be the better choice for their bullpen in the long run, allowing new pieces to grow. The team has also reportedly been “aggressively pursuing” all-star first-basemen Christian Walker, as they look to replace Anthony Rizzo who has just become a free agent.
