The Yankees dropped their 3-game series to the Red Sox this past weekend, but still cling to the best record in baseball.

In game 1, New York came out swinging, thrashing Boston 8-1. Alex Verdugo slugged a 2-run homer and drove in 4 RBI in his return to Fenway Park. Rookie Luis Gil (9-1) continues to be spectacular, and now leads the AL in ERA.

In game 2, Boston set the tone for the next 2 games with a 3-run 1st inning. New York tried to crawl back in, but committed costly errors and stranded too many baserunners, losing 8-4.

In the last game of the series, Boston set a club record with 9 stolen bases, defeating the Yanks 9-3. The Sox were up 1 heading into the 7th, when New York loaded the bases with 0 outs. But Boston reliever Zack Kelly miraculously got out of the jam, leaving all 3 runners on base and keeping his team in front. A combined 5 runs in the 7th and 8th innings sealed the Sox victory.

Aaron Judge hit his 2nd dinger of the series and leads the league in homers, doubles, RBI, walks, OPS, and total bases.

Anthony Rizzo, who has been struggling all year, will miss 4-6 weeks with a right arm fracture after a collision at 1st base.

But there is good news, as Yankee ace, Gerrit Cole, is set to make his season debut on Wednesday against the red-hot Orioles, after being sidelined with an injury to his pitching arm.
