For the first time in 19 years there is an NBA Finals matchup where neither team has ever won a title. As the Finals get underway on Thursday night the two participants, the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City thunder, have never won a championship. This will be the second time that each team has made the Finals.

Oklahoma City won their first and third round series in five games and nearly squeaked out their second round series against Nikola Jokic in seven games. “Guys are connected at the hip everywhere we go. We do everything together on and off the court,” this year’s NBA MVP, Shea Gilgeous-Alexander, says of his OKC team. “But above all, we all prioritize winning and enjoy each other’s company. And I think it’s organic.”

The Pacers had the fourth best record in the Eastern Conference this season and beat Milwaukee and Cleveland in five games in the first two rounds before beating the Knicks in six games in the Eastern Conference Finals. Indiana and OKC own the best records in the NBA since January 1st. Oklahoma City comes into the series as huge favorites but Indiana is capable of an upset.

The New York Beacon predicts the Oklahoma City Thunder will raise the Larry O’Brien after taking out the Indiana Pacers in 5 games.
