The Indiana Pacers moved on to the NBA Finals by beating the New York Knicks in six games in the Eastern Conference Finals. This marks the second time in two seasons that Indiana has knocked the Knicks from the playoffs. Indiana reaches the NBA Finals for the second time in their history and for the first time since 2000. Indiana won the ABA Championship in 1973.
Indiana forward Pascal Siakam was named Eastern Conference Finals MVP. Siakam averaged 24.8 points on 52% shooting for the series to go along with 5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists. Pacers Point Guard Tyrese Haliburton averaged 21 points on 45% shooting, 6 rebounds, and 10.5 assists in the series. I’m excited, I’m happy, I’m blessed man. It’s been a crazy journey, a lot of ups and downs,” Siakam said to a room full of reporters after game 6. “I know I’m not the guy that everyone is going to talk about a lot and all that stuff, and I really don’t care about it. I’m just a young kid from Cameroon that just moved to the US at 18 years old.”
Oklahoma City will host Indiana in Game One of the NBA Finals Thursday night.
