I keep reading and hearing so called in the know sportscasters, raving about, Shohei Ohtani. They rave they have never seen anything like him and 50-50 is now their added justification.
Wow a lifetime to date.281 hitter, who has never reached 100 walks in one season. Point made here; hey they pitch to him. And Lord knows how terrible major league pitching is today. Barry Bonds, the name rings a bell to you? He was walked 232 times alone in 2004. With 120 being intentional.
So, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Barry Bonds nor Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio crosses not the minds of these both so called experts and historians? Even though they never saw them. And as both a player and pitcher this will be his first time ever in the playoffs.
And as hurler he has a 3.01 era and is 38-19. Don’t sound like Koufax, Gibson, Marichal or Seaver like numbers to me. I add to hitting against the likes of them his lifetime average would be lower, much more so. When you factor in him too facing the likes of Jenkins, Spahn, Ryan and Maddox and try running against the likes of Yogi Berra, Roy Campanella, Johnny Bench, Pudge Rodriguez and Benito Santiago.
Well, you get the picture. He doesn’t do 50-50. Well Bonds, Mantle and Mays without question do 50-50.
Look he is great in today’s game. And the best they ever saw alright. But the “Docta” Here says he is not the best that has ever been seen. And not by a long stretch.
Who is to say Mays, Bonds and Mantle, who came up as a shortstop, couldn’t have been good hurlers?
Again, the best they have ever seen? But there are many like me concur and agree. Not the best ever seen.
