Lost in the news that the Cleveland Browns were blown out at home in the debut against the Tennessee Titans was the fact that newly acquired Odell Beckham Jr was wearing a watch valued at close to $200,000 grand. He returned to MetLife Stadium Monday night to take on the Jets as both teams were looking to avoid going 0-2 to start the season. Right from the start, Beckham showed why he was as popular as a member of the New York Giants and one of the best wide receivers in the game.

OBJ made his customary one handed catch for 30 yards down the right sideline that led to a 23 yard field by Austin Siebert.
With Gang Green having to start Trevor Siemian (second year starter starter Sam Darnold out with mononucleosis) the Jets knew points would be hard to come by. They would go 3 and out the first two times they had the ball and would not get a first down until midway through the second quarter. Then, the unthinkable would happen. Siemian, scrambling and looking down field, gets the pass off. He gets hit by Browns defensive end Myles Garrett as his ankle buckles underneath him. He does walk off the field but would not return. Enter Luke Falk signed from the practice squad from Washington State. With the Browns up 13-0 after another field goal 19 yard touchdown run by Nick Chubb, Falk would get them on the board as newly signed field goal kicker Sam Ficken connected on a 46 yard field goal.
Second year quarterback Baker Mayfield completed a 20 yard pass to wide receiver Jarvis Landry and Seibert connected on a 43 yard field goal to extend the lead to 16-3 as time expired in the first half that was marred by penalties (Jets 8-62, Browns 5-55).
Falk would find wide receiver Robbie Anderson for two catches totaling 46 yards taking them down to the Browns 12 yard line. Instead of kicking a field goal to reduce the lead to 10 and needing 2 yards for the first down, first year head coach Adam Gase decides to go for it. Le’ Veon Bell comes up one yard short. On the very next play, Beckham takes a quick pass from Mayfield and turns it into a 89 yard. touchdown ballooning the lead to 23-3. He finished his night with 6 catches, 161 yards. Said, OBJ, “I knew it was gonna be a big play.” Said Baker of his teammate Beckham, “he’s very talented. He’s gonna make big plays.”

So the New York Jets go to the hated Patriots Sunday not knowing who will be under center.   New England embarrassed Miami 43-0 last Sunday. No telling how many points they will score against the Jets.
