The New York Jets could not sustain their early success against the Seattle Seahawks in Sunday’s matchup as they loss 26-21 at MetLife Stadium.

New York lost their 14-point lead in the first quarter and fell behind after halftime. Penalties and the Seahawks’ push in the second half changed the trajectory of the game.

“We have to take a hard look at this tape,” interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich said. “Just the operation, the penalties, a little bit of a lot of different stuff.”

Ulbrich said there were no changes he wanted to make before the next game, but said he wanted to look at the tape when asked about the lack of scoring. New York did not score in the second half. The Jets were called for 12 penalties, 10 were in the second half.
“It’s not our standard,” he said. “Penalties ultimately extend drives. We can’t let that happen.”

The Jets were on the scoreboard first when Aaron Rodgers completed a pass to wide receiver Davante Adams for a touchdown. The attempt at the extra point was blocked by Seahawks (DE) Dre’Mont Jones. The Jets were able to reclaim the point after cornerback Brandin Echols recovered a fumble during the kickoff return. New York worked their way back. Rodgers later passed to running back Isaiah Davis for a touchdown and running back Breece Hall’s two-point conversion attempt was successful. Hall commmited two fumbles. He said he wanted to work on everything following the game. “Obviously being better with the ball in my hand,” he said. “I just hate letting my teammates down.”

Running back Kene Nwangwu returned the kickoff in the second quarter for an impressive 99 yards touchdown. The Jets did not score again the remainder of the game.

Rodgers also felt the penalties had a big impact on the game. “A lot,” he said. “Definitely a lot.” He completed 21 of 39 pass for 185 yards. “We’ve just got to look at the film, be honest about it, critique ourselves, and move on,” he said.

The Jets next travel to Miami (5-7) to take on the Dolphins who lost to the Green Bay Packers (9-3) 30-1
