The NBA debuted a new All-Star Game format last weekend in San Francisco, California which brought more spirit to the competition than we’ve seen in years. It was a four-team tournament played on Sunday night that featured three teams comprised of the 24 All-Stars, 12 from the East and 12 from the west. The 24 All-Stars were divided into three teams and a fourth team was a roster comprised of rookie and second year players who played their way into Sunday night’s All-Star festivities by winning a four-team tournament Friday night.
Overall, three games were played, and two Knicks participated. Jalen Brunson and Karl Anthony Towns became the first Knicks teammates to start in an All-Star Game since Walt Clyde Frazier and Earl Monroe in 1975. “The All-Star game, it needed just a fresh look. You can always re-ascess you can always continue to make decisions on what is in the best interest of the fans which is what the whole weekend is about.” said Stephen Curry who won game MVP honors as part of the OG winning team. I think it worked out perfectly, the OG’s reigned on the court, reigned supreme, and we’ll see what we do next year.”
The New York Knicks are home Thursday night to face the Chicago Bulls.
