NeNe Leakes’ son, Bryson Bryant, is once again grappling with legal challenges, missing probation check-ins, and evading communication with his probation officer for months. Court records reveal that Bryant failed to attend mandatory check-ins on August 14 and September 30. Despite repeated efforts to contact him, including phone calls, authorities have not located him in local jail facilities, raising concerns over his compliance with probation requirements.
Bryant’s legal troubles began escalating in July 2023 when he was arrested in Georgia for possessing fentanyl and providing police with a false name—his younger brother Brentt’s. Following this incident, Bryant reached a plea agreement, in which he pleaded guilty to the false information charge in exchange for dropping the controlled substance charge. As part of the deal, he accepted a 12-month probation sentence, a $500 fine, and was required to perform 40 hours of community service, as well as to avoid drugs, undergo random testing, and complete substance abuse treatment.
NeNe Leakes has publicly acknowledged the challenges her family faces, particularly concerning Bryant’s ongoing battle with addiction. Speaking candidly in a recent podcast appearance with Carlos King, the former Real Housewives of Atlanta star shared how her son’s struggle with addiction has impacted their lives. “He needs a lot of counseling,” she said, adding that, despite several rehab attempts, Bryant has relapsed repeatedly. Leakes noted the importance of Bryant’s personal motivation in his recovery, saying, “He has to say, ‘I’m ready to go,’ not me making him go.”
The court had previously warned Bryant that failure to attend scheduled court dates would lead to serious consequences, including a forfeiture of his bond and the issuance of a bench warrant. After an earlier probation violation, Bryant’s jail release was initially scheduled for early 2024, but he was freed three months early under strict terms. He now faces a renewed risk of incarceration if he remains unresponsive to court obligations.
Bryant’s lawyer, Dominko C. Rumph, has argued that the initial traffic stop leading to Bryant’s 2023 arrest lacked reasonable suspicion, based on body camera footage from the incident. Nevertheless, Bryant’s probation violation now places him in a precarious position, raising the specter of future legal repercussions.
