Without Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons for another game and without Kyrie Irving because of the COVID-19 Vaccine mandate, the Brooklyn Nets were dominated by the Toronto Raptors 133-97 at Barclays Center. The loss pushed Brooklyn further back from Toronto in the standings, who they played again Tuesday night.

Bruce Brown talked about catching Toronto. “Yeah, we’re two games behind the seventh spot,” Brown said. “We’ve got to get this win in Toronto, especially since they came in here and did what they wanted in our gym. That’s unacceptable, so we’ve got to go out there and take it to them.”
But the biggest news of the evening was that Brooklyn Nets head coach Steve Nash tested positive for COVID-19 between speaking to the media pregame and the start of the game.
Brooklyn Nets assistant head coach Jacques Vaughn took over as interim coach and will continue until Nash clears the NBA’s COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocol.
With COVID-19 wreaking havoc on the team in the NBA in December, you can’t help but to wonder if it will do the same with a team-wide outbreak.
Meanwhile, Durant, Simmons, and Joe Harris have no concrete timetable to return and Irving still can’t play in Brooklyn. The season is coming to an end soon and so is the opportunity for the Nets become a cohesive unit.
