Wow! A Black is the best ever and now all hell breaks loose. And the racist jump at the opportunity to cry racism. If he had been any other ethnicity no questions would have been asked. And his support would have been wholly excepted by our Jewish brothers yet too begrudging too so by all the members of the Caucasian race. The iconic sportscaster, the late great, Art Rust Jr., was in Yankee stadium with his uncle when Josh Gibson, hit the only fair ball out of the legendary Yankee Stadium. Truth of the matter as the late great Buck “Nancy” O’Neal once told me when talking about his book ‘Right on Time’. ”I played against the best.” Stating he never desired to play in the white leagues. Adding he ate and slept in the best hotels and restaurant. My late dear friend, Negro League super hurler, Max Manning, told me. “He made more money in the Negro Leagues than what he would have in the white leagues.
Being befriended by the great Joe DiMaggio thank GOD through the too iconic, Art Rust Jr. Mr. DiMaggio confirmed and told me when got a hit off Satchel Paige in an exhibition game. He then knew he was truly ready for white leagues. Citing Paige was the best pitcher he ever faced. Adding, that the older Paige got, ”the harder he was to hit.” Here’s the facts and thoughts with the stats coming out as they did. 1, they could possibly not be as stellar as reported but even more so stellar. 2, Barry Bonds isn’t number one anymore, which brings some glee to many. Yet still many too still dismayed that number one is still a Black man. 3, too Indication of their validity as the superior and better players.
Every year the World Champions of the white leagues would play a series against the Negro Leagues. And lose so 4) They would then put together an All☆Star team against the Negro All Stars or selected team and too would lose again, so they simply stopped playing against them, the Negro League players.
Did I mention Babe Ruth used to yearly tour with the Negro League stars? The first man to ever win the first ever major league of Rookie of the year award was from the Negro Leagues, Jack Roosevelt Robinson.
The first to ever win the first ever Cy Young award too came from the Negro leagues Don Newcombe. This too when only one award was given covering both leagues. And might I add too, Newcombe was the first player to win the MVP and Cy Young award in the same year. The first player to win ROY, MVP And Cy Young in baseball history.
Imagine how much more superior they would have been had they played both daily and more games, weekly and yearly against both the less skilled, less talented and inferior white leagues?
