The New York Giants ended their season last Sunday afternoon with a 20-13 loss to the Eagles in Philadelphia to finish with a 3-14 record. The Giants were spared embarrassment by Philadelphia who rested former Giants running back Saquon Barkley who was just 101 yards shy of passing Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record which was set in 1984. The Giants let Saquon walk to Philadelphia via free agency last offseason, and Barkley has helped Philadelphia to a 14-3 record this season.
During this season the Giants suffered their longest losing streak, of ten games, in the 100-year history of the franchise. The day after the final game on Sunday, Giants owner John Mara announced Monday that he is bringing back General Manager Joe Schoen and Head Coach Brian Daboll. “Thankful for the opportunity, got a lot of work to do, 3-14 obviously is not good enough,” Daboll said Monday morning after hearing from ownership that he would be retained for next season.
The Giants have only made the playoffs twice since they won their last Super Bowl in 2011. In the upcoming NFL Draft in April they will have the third overall pick.
