A former bread truck driver has been found guilty of manslaughter for the death of an unarmed teen he accused of stealing a lunchbox.
Jonathan Scott was emotional after a jury convicted him of manslaughter after less than two hours of deliberation, according to AL.com.
Scott said he shot 16-year-old Mustafa Bearfield to scare him after the teen snatched a lunchbox from his delivery truck while it was parked outside of a convenience store. He says he yelled at Bearfield to drop the box, but the kid gave him a “screw you look.”
“I told him drop it or I’ll shoot,” Scott said during the trial.
