A quiet evening at a Manhattan pizzeria took a violent turn when a customer refused to take his unleashed pit bull outside, leading to a brutal altercation. On the evening of August 19, Tyshaun Watson, 35, entered Roma Pizza on 5th Avenue in the Flatiron District with his dog, defying New York City law. When the evening manager, Zack, asked him to leave due to sanitation rules, the situation quickly escalated into a physical fight. Surveillance footage captured Watson dragging Zack outside, slamming him to the ground, and repeatedly assaulting him. The attack intensified when Watson’s pit bull joined in, biting Zack multiple times, leaving him with life-threatening injuries.

Zack was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, where he was intubated as he fought for his life. Meanwhile, Watson faces serious charges, including first-degree assault and second-degree attempted murder. As he headed to court, Watson expressed remorse, telling reporters he didn’t mean to cause harm. The NYPD has since taken custody of his dog.
