In a game where one team was as disappointing as the other, the Brooklyn Nets defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 119-114 at Barclays Center Tuesday night. Brooklyn had seven players score in double figures led by guard Trendon Watford’s 22 points on 7-8 shooting. The Nets have a record of 26-53, their lowest win total since the 2016-17 season. They will not be going to the playoffs this season. “I think the engagement from everybody is good, you don’t see guys yawning or waiting for the game to be over,” Nets Head Coach Jordi Fernandez said after the game, speaking on the spirit of his team despite them simply playing out the string with no hope of making the playoffs. “You can see it sometimes, I’m being honest, or guys rolling their eyes and don’t want to be there. If you don’t want to be in an NBA game, I think in my opinion that’s kind of crazy because those opportunities don’t show up every day.”

Zion Williamson missed the game for the New Orleans Pelicans as he has been shut down by the team after another injury plagued season. New Orleans’ 21 wins are only more than Utah, Washington, and Charlotte this season.
