Jonquel Jones scored a team-high 27 points, two-time league MVP Brenna Stewart added 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and the New York Liberty rode a second half surge to keep their championship aspirations alive with a 87-73 victory over the Las Vegas Aces in Game 3 of the WNBA finals on Sunday, October 15, at home. New York now trails Las Vegas 2-1.

Behind Jones’ 16 first half points, New York built a three point lead at intermission. In the final twenty minutes, the Liberty erupted offensively, out-scoring the Aces 44-33 and led by as many as 17, ensuring they’d have one more game to play in Brooklyn.

The Liberty finished the contest with a 52.4 FG% and went 13-30 from three-point range, while the Aces shot 33.3% from the field and 31.8% from behind the arches. Three of the five Liberty starters each scored multiple three-pointers, with Jones leading the way with four.

Kelsey Plum scored a game-high 29 points for the Aces in defeat. Las Vegas’ starting guard and center Chelsea Gray and Kiah Stokes, respectively, both suffered foot injuries during the contest and are expected to miss Game 4 which was played  Wednesday night. It’s do or die for New York as they hoped to take the series back to Las Vegas with a chance to win their first WNBA championship.
