This past Tuesday night at Barclays Center, the New York Liberty secured a commanding 95–67 victory over the Golden State Valkyries, maintaining their perfect 4–0 record to start the season.
Fast Start Sets the Tone
The Liberty opened the game with a dominant 22–3 run. Breanna Stewart led the charge, scoring 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting, helping New York establish a 27–10 lead by the end of the first quarter.
Marine Johannès Sparks the Bench
Marine Johannès delivered her best performance of the season, coming off the bench to score 18 points, including six three-pointers—four of which came in the second quarter. Her sharpshooting provided a significant boost to the Liberty’s offense.
Valkyries Struggle with Turnovers
Golden State, still adjusting as a new franchise, committed 23 turnovers, leading to 32 points for New York. Despite outscoring the Liberty in the second and third quarters combined, the Valkyries couldn’t overcome the early deficit.
Veronica Burton Stands Out
Veronica Burton was a bright spot for the Valkyries, contributing 13 points, six assists, and three steals. Her efforts provided energy on both ends of the floor.

The Liberty and Valkyries will meet again on Thursday night at Barclays Center. New York aims to continue their strong start, while Golden State looks to adjust and seek their first win against the defending champions.
