The New York Liberty have done something that they were not able to do last season in their WNBA Finals run and that is defeat the Las Vegas Aces, the defending back-to-back WNBA Champions. Only this time it happened in the semifinal round. With their 76-62 win over the Aces in Las Vegas the Liberty now reach the WNBA Finals for the second year in a row and the sixth time in franchise history. They will now try and accomplish something that they never have and that is win the WNBA Championship. They remain the only original WNBA franchise without a championship.

Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu had a game-high 22 points. “No hurdle besides getting back to the Finals,” Ionescu said after the game. We want to go out there and be the best that we can be no matter what team it is. I think we were able to do that this series. It was really nice to see how we just stuck together.”

The Aces routed the Liberty the previous game in Game Three which denied the Liberty a sweep of the Aces. The Finals begins Thursday night in Brooklyn at Barclays Center. The Liberty will play the winner of the Connecticut Sun and Minnesota Lynx in game 5 that took place Tuesday night in Minnesota.
