James Harden made his Los Angeles Clippers debut at Madison Square Garden on Monday night, about 20 months after he forced his way out of Brooklyn as a member of the Nets. The Future Hall of Famer and his co-stars who also are destined for the Halls of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, were turned back by the Knicks 111-97 in a sexy early season matchup.
The Knicks outscored LA 35-21 in the fourth quarter after starting the final period tied at 76. It was an impressive effort for the Knicks after starting the season 2-4 off their successful playoff series winning season a year ago. The Knicks got another strong start from RJ Barrett who missed the previous two games with a knee injury. He finished with 26 points on 9- 16 shooting. The other forward Julius Randle had a game high 27 points on 9-21 shooting. The win was the Knicks first at home and they welcome the young 7’5 phenom Victor Wembanyama to the Garden this past Wednesday night.
The future Hall of Famers starting for the Clippers were all held in check by New York. Harden had 17 points and 6 assists in his team debut, Russell Westbrook had 17 points, Kawhi Leonard scored 18 and Paul George finished with 10 points on 2-11 shooting.
