The Knicks beat the lowly Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night 105-91 at Madison Square Garden. New York’s OG Anunoby led all scorers with 27 points and former Knick Quientin Grimes led Philadelphia in scoring with 26 points. Karl Anthony Towns sat the game out as the Knicks did not need him against the lowly Philadelphia 76ers who are well into tank mode.
Philadelphia has won just 23 games in the season as their best player Joel Embiid has missed most of the season due to injury.
Knicks Head Coach Tom Thibodeau picked up his 223rd win as Knicks coach tying Pat Riley on the franchise wins list. “I think all that stuff is a by product of having great players and you share that with your team and all of the individual stuff is really not that important. Obviously you have great respect for Pat Riley and certainly Jeff Van Gundy for what they’ve done in their careers,” said Thibodeau who spent time on Jeff Van Gundy’s coaching staff in the late 90’s when Van Gundy was Knicks Head Coach. “But the history of the franchise when you look at the great coaches, the great players, you know organizationally, what it represents, it’s an honor to be here.”
The Knicks faced the Cavaliers Wednesday night who have the best record in the Eastern Conference this season. Karl Anthony Towns is expected back in the lineup for the Knicks. The Knicks have lost their previous games to the Cavs and play them for the final time April 11.
