After an opening night loss in which the New York Knicks fell just
short of a tremendous second-half comeback, the team defeated the
Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic. Julius Randle leads the team in
scoring, with 21.3 points per game, and 9.7 rebounds. Off-season
acquisition Jalen Brunson leads the team with 7.0 assists per game and
is second in scoring, putting up 17.7.

Coming off a spectacular second of the 2021-2022 season, RJ Barrett
has struggled in the first three games and is shooting under 35% from
the field. I don’t expect that to continue, as Barrett has proven his
all-around ability over the three seasons of his career, prompting the
Knicks to sign him to an off-season extension.
Over in Brooklyn, the talented trio of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and
Ben Simmons have stumbled out the gate, dropping two of their first
three games. The Nets dropped the season opener at home to the New
Orleans Pelicans, defeated the Toronto Raptors, and lost to Memphis in
an explosive scoring game where both Durant and Irving scored 35 or
more points.
Simmons is struggling to score as he did in Philadelphia, averaging
under six points. He leads the team in assists with 7.0 a game while
averaging 6.0 rebounds. All 18 rebounds have been on the defensive
end. Simmons has fouled out 2 of the 3 games he has played including
Monday night in Memphis. Simmons was also hit with a technical foul

By the league. Will not come as a surprise if he gets fined.
The job of Brooklyn Head Coach Steve Nash could be in jeopardy if the
team doesn’t begin to play better immediately. Brooklyn was a soap
opera for numerous reasons last season and the team hopes for fewer
distractions this season.
