After losing to Lebron James and the Los Angeles Lakers last Saturday night at a charged up Madison Square Garden, the Knicks got themselves a gritty win on Monday. It was a matchup of the 1994 NBA Finals. The Houston Rockets outscored the Knicks in each of the first three quarters and led the Knicks by 11 going into the fourth. That’s where New York outscored Houston 46-29 to pick up a 124-118 win. “We knew it would be that type of game, the physicality, playing small, the aggressiveness of it,” Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau said after the game. “We got in a hole but we found a way to win and I love how we responded in the fourth quarter. Whatever it was going to take we were going to do.”
Jalen Brunson made just two of his first eight shots and had 13 points at halftime. He finished the game with 42 points after a 29-point fourth quarter. The Knicks captain reached the 40-point mark for the 18th time as a Knick. Surpassing Carmelo Anthony who reached the 40-point mark 17 times as a Knick. Brunson only trails Bernard King and Patrick Ewing in Knicks history.
