The Knicks won game 3 of their first-round playoff series against the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night with a hard fought 118-116 victory. New York got strong performances from everyone in this game and were led by a team-high 31 points from center Karl Anthony Towns. Point guard Jalen Brunson finished with 30 points for the Knicks, O.G. Anunoby had 22 points, and Mikal Bridges added 20 points.  “We’re not surprised, I feel like we’ve been that team all year in terms of responding and bouncing back after losses. So now the tough part is how are you after wins?” Knicks forward Josh Hart said after the game. “We have to make sure we come in Sunday, early start, ready to play, get off to a good start like we did today and execute.”

The Knicks and Pistons will wait until Sunday to play the fourth game of this series Sunday afternoon at 1:00. Detroit got 24 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 blocks from point guard Cade Cunningham. Former Knick, Tim Hardaway Jr., who had two different stints with the Knicks, tied Cunningham with a team high 24 points for the Pistons. Former Brooklyn Nets guard Dennis Schroder had 18 points for the Pistons off the bench. Detroit got 40 points from their bench while the Knicks had just 9 from their bench but their starters combined for 109 points. The game for Detroit was their first playoff game at home since 2008.
