The New York Knicks were up by as many as 15 points in the first half
and led by 7 points going into the third quarter. That is where the
Knicks fell apart. Luka Doncic, with 19 points, and Tim Hardaway Jr,
with 17 points, outscored the entire Knicks team in the third quarter,
as the Dallas Mavericks put up a whopping 41 points, holding the blue
and orange to only 15 points. The Mavericks lead ballooned too as many
as 32 points, and the Madison Square Garden crowd booed the home team
during and after the 121-100 loss that was yet another embarrassing
home performance.

Dallas made nine three-pointers in the third quarter alone and 24
during the game, exploiting the poor defense of the Knicks.

Julius Randle led the team with 24 points, but only 3 came in the
second half. Immanuel Quickley had 23 points off the bench.

Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau discussed the loss after the game.
“I want to look at the film, and that’s usually the first thing you
look at is ‘OK, are we doing it hard enough?’” he explained after the
game. “And then the second thing is ‘is the scheme being executed
correctly?’ Those are the two things that you look at. And then if the
answer is ‘yes, we are doing it hard enough’ and the scheme is being
executed and they’re scoring, then you think about your adjustment.
Otherwise, if you don’t do it that way, you’re going to be changing on
every possession so you try to identify the things that you can become
good at.”

Knicks guard Quentin Grimes expressed his frustration with the third
quarter.  “I think it was giving multiple efforts. I felt like in the
third quarter they came out with a lot more intensity, focus, and
sense of urgency than us. I feel like in the third quarter, we didn’t
make the 50/50 plays or get the offensive rebounds. We let them get
off threes and our not giving maximum effort in the third quarter kind
of hurt us.”

The Knicks host the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight hoping to rebound from
their dreadful performance.
