The Knicks have had a solid season but after seeing their season end in the second round each of the last two seasons the goal before this season was to compete for a championship. Thus far in this campaign the Knicks are 0-7 against the teams with the top three records in the NBA: Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics. The last two of whom are in the Eastern Conference along with the Knicks, and beat the Knicks in two routs over this past weekend.

On Friday night in Cleveland, the Knicks lost 142-105 which was their largest margin of defeat during head coach Tom Thibodeau’s reign. They followed that up with a 118-105 loss in Boston on Sunday.

The disappointing thing about this for the Knicks is two seasons ago they beat Cleveland in the first round of the playoffs in five games as the lower seed, and also two seasons ago they beat the Celtics the last three times they played them. Now they haven’t been able to compete with these two teams. Currently, the Knicks stand at 37-20 firmly in the third position in the Eastern Conference where they have been for a while.

The Knicks came back home to host the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday night. It is not known if Sixers center Joel Embiid would play as he has been dealing with left knee issues all year.
