The New York Knicks played well on the offensive end of the ball last
night, scoring 118, good enough for a win on most nights. But the
defense of the New York Knicks was atrocious, as they allowed the
Boston Celtics to nail a team-record 27 three-pointers on 53% from
beyond the arc and the Knicks fell 133-118 at Madison Square Garden
last night.
Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau discussed the defensive effort after the game.

Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau discussed the defensive effort after the game.
“They’re a dynamic team off the dribble and some of it was poor
defense,” he said. “Some of it was they made shots. I want to
take a look at the film. There are some that I felt we could’ve
challenged better, some we did challenge well and they made.”
Julius Randle scored 29 points, RJ Barrett added 27 for the Knicks,
and Jalen Brunson tallied 22 points and 10 assists. Isaiah Hartenstein
had 10 points and 14 rebounds filling in for the injured Mitchell
Robinson, who will be reevaluated within 10 days after leaving Friday
night’s game in Philadelphia.
With Robinson out, Coach Thibodeau has experimented with a small
lineup with both Randle and Obi Toppin. He discussed it both pre- and
post-game. “The pace of the game is much faster so that’s a big plus,” he
explained. “I want to see the film, but I don’t think our defense with
any group was where it needed to be. I do like it; I like what it
gives us.”
