The New York Knicks ended their season high three game losing streak Wednesday night with a 112-98 win at Madison Square Garden over the Toronto Raptors. The game featured the return of RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley to the Garden. The pair were traded from the Knicks to Toronto at the end of 2023 in exchange for OG Anunoby and Precious Achiuwa. Anunoby tied Karl Anthony Towns with a game-high 27 points in the win over Toronto. The last time these two teams met two weeks ago at the Garden, Anunoby and Towns tied for a game-high 31 points in that one. Barrett finished the game with 16 points while Quickley led Toronto with 22 points. “They are a team that plays real fast and they’ll test you in terms of defensive transition,” Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau said about Toronto after the game. “I thought our guys responded well to that. Toronto is getting healthy, they got guys back. Quickley being back and RJ is a load to deal with.”
Quickley has missed most of this season due to injuries and last night was just his six game played all season. He is averaging 15.9 points per game in those contests. Barrett is averaging a career high 23.2 points per game on a career-high 46% shooting from the field. Barrett is also averaging a solid 6.8 rebounds and 6 assists per game. Toronto has the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference at 8-29. The Knicks are now third in the east at 25-13 with a marquee matchup in their next game Friday night against the Western Conference-leading Oklahoma City Thunder who are 30-6.
