The Yankees and Rays split a hard-fought four-game series in the Bronx. New York took the opener 6–3, powered by Oswaldo Cabrera’s homer and a late push from Jasson Domínguez and Ben Rice. The bullpen held strong as the Yankees overcame an early Rays lead.
Game 2 went to the Yankees behind Carlos Rodón’s dominant six-inning outing and a lone RBI single from Trent Grisham. Paul Goldschmidt had three hits in the 1–0 win as the Bombers leaned on pitching and defense.
Tampa Bay struck back in Game 3, overcoming a four-run ninth-inning deficit to win 10–8 in extras. Devin Williams blew the save, and Jonathan Aranda’s two-run homer in the 10th stunned the home crowd.
The Yankees bounced back with a 4–0 win in the finale. Max Fried tossed 7.2 brilliant innings, nearly carrying a no-hitter. Cody Bellinger, Trent Grisham, and Austin Wells all homered, salvaging a series split and keeping momentum steady.
In other Yankee news, Aaron Judge has been named captain of Team USA for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. This marks his first appearance in the event, succeeding Mike Trout as team leader. Judge said he’s honored to represent his country and ready to guide a new generation on baseball’s biggest global stage. Team USA is chasing its second World Baseball Classic title in three tournaments, fueled by the sting of a nail-biting loss to Japan that ended with the final out. With a roster stacked with talent and redemption on their minds, they’re ready to reclaim the crown.
