The game was all about over. Aaron Judge was stuck his 59th homer. The New York Yankees trailed the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-4 in the ninth inning and Judge was hitless in his first three at-bats. Then came the bottom of the ninth and the magical season for Judge and the Bronx Bombers continued.

It began when the MVP candidate launched a Wil Crowe sinker into the left field seats for his 60th home run of the season. It sparked the team as and sent crowd into a frenzy. Minutes later, Giancarlo Stanton blasted a game winning grand slam taking out the Pirates 9-8. Stanton, who has not been right since coming off the injured list had only 9 hits in his previous 72 at-bats. Judge tied the legendary, Hall of Famer Babe Ruth of 60 home runs which Ruth achieved 37 years ago. Judge’s next home run will tie him with Roger Maris (both his son’s were in attendance) which was set in 1961 on the last day of the regular season.

Said Judge of the come from behind win, “it was an all around great team game. That’s what this team is made up of. We were kind of slow to start especially against a good pitcher but guys worked hard to the very end.” Stanton marveled at what Judge has accomplished. “I think there’s no limit and no jumping the gun. It’s one at bat at a time, one pitch at a time. When he get’s the next one, he’s gonna go on to the next one. The next step, the next at bat.

The series concludes tonight before the Yankees host the Boston Red Sox for 4 games. They currently have 1 5 1/2 game lead over the Toronto Blue Jays.
