“I don’t think that the congresswoman perhaps appreciates the full weight of how it was heard by other people, although I don’t believe it was intended in any anti-Semitic way,” Pelosi said at her weekly news conference, referring to recent remarks made by the congresswoman related to Israel that sparked criticism, including from some Democrats.

Pelosi added, “but the fact is that’s how it was interpreted and we have to remove all doubt as we have done over and over again.”

House Democrats are expected to vote later Thursday on a resolution that will broadly condemn hate in reaction to the controversy as well as an internal debate over exactly how to respond.

Pelosi said that the resolution will denounce anti-Semitism as well as Islamophobia and white supremacy.
