The Golden State Warriors completed their two-game sweep through New York City Thursday night with a 121-119 victory over the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center. Warriors star Steph Curry finished with a game high 40 points. New Warrior Jimmy Butler finished with 25 points and the Warriors are 10-1 since trading for Butler. The Nets were led in scoring by the two Cam’s Johnson and Thomas. Cam Johnson had 26 points while Cam Thomas finished with 23 points.
Golden State now has the sixth best record in the Western Conference. Stephen Curry is a beloved figure and like LeBron James has a cavalcade of fans who come see him play in road arenas. So much so that half the time the Warriors are on the road it feels like a home game for them. Thursday at Barclays Center was an example of that and Steph does not take it for granted. “That’s built on years and decades of winning, of people being a part of that journey so I don’t take that for granted,” the 11-time All-Star, two-time MVP, and four-time NBA champion said after the game. “I actually thrive off of it because not only does it keep you in the moment and keep you motivated but you do know that’s probably one of the things you’ll miss when it’s all over so I’m very appreciative of it.” Curry wowed the crowd by nailing a halfcourt shot as the buzzer went off right before halftime.
The Warriors will face the Knicks again next week in Golden State. The Nets are now 21-41 after what is now six straight losses and have fallen 3.5 games behind the final play-in playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Nets host the Los Angeles Lakers with LeBron James and newly acquired Luka Doncic Monday night.
