Prescott Carves Up Giants Defense

Well, at least the New York Football Giants didn’t get shut out. When they hosted “Americas Team” the Dallas Cowboys to start the 2023-24 season, they were thoroughly embarrassed in front of a national television audience 40-0.
Last Sunday afternoon, they traveled to “Jerry World” AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas to see if they could at least save face from the last beat down. By games end, the New York Giants spiraled further into the abyss as they were routed 49-17.
Cowboys quarterback Dan Prescott completed 26 of 35 passes, throwing 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. Prescott also ran 10 yards for another touchdown. He only wished he could play the midgets every week as they took a whopping 28-0 halftime lead and never looked back.
While the Cowboys were running up the score, the Giants were relying on an offense led by quarterback Tommy DeVito who once again played more like actor/comedian by Danny DeVito. The undrafted quarterback completed 14 of 27 passes. 2 touchdowns and threw 1 interception. The Giants did not get on the scoreboard until the third quarter. Said DeVito afterwards, “it’s tough. You put a lot into the week. You put a lot into the preparation, practices , meetings. Obviously , this is not the outcome we wanted. Something has got to change . We’ve just got to get better.”
Second year head coach Brian Daboll had no answers as he saw his defense give up 79 points (scoring only 23) in the last two games, was very contrite and could only praise the Cowboys. “Give credit to Dallas. They played a heck of a game.”
Dallas was intent on not letting Giants running back Saquon Barley have a big game. It worked as they stacked 5 linemen up front forcing De Vito to throw the ball. Barkley finished with 66 yards on 13 carries. Said Barkley, “it’s the NFL, we shouldn’t be getting beat like this, no matter what the situation is and we can’t allow ourselves to continue to make excuses.”
The New York Giants saw their record fall to 2-8 and travel to Washington Sunday to face a Commanders team that lost to the Seattle Seahawks 29-26 which dropped their record to 4-6. Daboll said that DeVito will start again.
