The New York Giants were on the verge of being roasted by everyone in New York City who cares anything about football.  They trailed their second game of the season last Sunday 20-0 at halftime in Arizona against a Cardinals team who many believe are the worst team in the NFL. At that point the Giants were the first team since 1992 to go the first six quarters of a season without scoring a single point. Two quarters later they were celebrating their biggest comeback victory since 1949.

Quarterback Daniel Jones, who was given a $40 million dollar per year contract before the season, woke up and played incredible. In the second half he threw for over 250 yards, ran for over 50 yards, threw two touchdowns, and ran for another. Running back Saquon Barkley ran for a touchdown and caught one and the Giants won 31-28. Their record is 1-1 with a big game looming this week in what will be a quick turnaround Thursday night, again on the road, against one of the elite teams in the San Francisco 49ers. Rookie receiver Jaylyn Hyatt caught the first two passes of his career which went for a total of 89 yards.

As pumped as the team was after the win, there was a somber tone in the locker room as the team found out that Barkley suffered a right ankle sprain. Although x-rays were negative an MRI revealed the sprain would sideline him for at least 3 weeks. He is not expected to play Thursday night. Running backs Matt Breida and Gary Brightwell will split time in place of Barkley.
