At Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, an email promoting white supremacy was sent to students, faculty, and staff.. The University condemned the email , saying that it “violates our fundamental commitment to fostering an inclusive community and is absolutely unacceptable.”

In an emailed statement, the Provost and Interim Vice Chancellor said “ The language and sentiment contained in this message are abhorrent and antithetical to our values as a university community. We condemn this message and the tactics of sowing distrust, division and hatred that it employs.”

A screenshot was tweeted by Vanderbilt NAACP that shows the email, which resembles poorly made spam. There are typos and errors, and it was addressed to “Your command”. The NAACP chapter also tweeted, “The white nationalist email blast that was sent out to many black students tonight is yet ANOTHER reprehensible display of how racism and hatred is ingrained into Vanderbilt culture. Now lets hope @VanderbiltU actually takes action…”
