The Boston Celtics suffered a stunning loss at home Monday night 108-105 to the New York Knicks. A shocking turn of events as Boston led 75-55 with 5:47 remaining in the third quarter. The Celtics took 60 three-point attempts and missed 45 of them. They only made five the rest of the game after compiling that 20-point lead. The Celtics’ two best players Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown each finished with 23 points in a game that went into overtime. Brown made Boston’s only three in overtime.
Former Knick Kristaps Porzingis scored zero points in just 12 minutes of action and left this game before the second half with an illness. “Obviously it impacts the game with his ability on both ends of the floor,” Celtics Head Coach Joe Mazzulla said about Porzingis after the game. “It obviously changes sub patterns. It changes the things you are able to do matchup wise. Yea, I think we felt it, but no excuses.”
Game Two for the Celtics will be Wednesday night in Boston as they now trail in a series for the first time since 2023. Boston’s three guards of Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, and Peyton Pritchard combined for 48 points.
