Brooklyn Nets hire Jodi Fernandez

At the NBA All-Star break back in February the Brooklyn Nets fired Head Coach Jacque Vaughn 54 games into the regular season as the team had a disappointing 21-33 record. Former NBA player Kevin Ollie who coached the University of Connecticut to the 2014 National Championship finished the season as the interim Head Coach. The Nets finished the season 11-17 with Ollie manning the ship.
Brooklyn recently announced Sacramento Kings assistant coach Jordi Fernandez as their next Head Coach of the franchise. Fernandez is from Spain and has spent much of his adult career in the United States. He will also be the Head Coach of the Canadian Men’s Basketball Team this summer in the Olympics. A Canadian team who he coached to victory against the United States in the bronze medal game of last summer’s World Basketball Tournament. “The most important thing to me is to believe in team success over personal success,” Fernandez said at his introductory press conference last week. “Because as you guys know with myself, I think it’s a clear example, I would not be sitting here if Sacramento was not successful, if Canada was not successful.”
Before he leads Brooklyn next season Fernandez will try and lead a talented Canadian squad past the United States again this summer in the Olympics that takes place in France beginning July 26th.
