Brooklyn Breaks Magic Streak

The Orlando Magic are the surprise team of the NBA’s early season but they can’t shake those Brooklyn Nets.  Orlando came into their December 2nd game at the Barclays Center riding a franchise tying nine game win streak and owners of the second-best record in the Eastern Conference. The win streak was also the longest in the NBA this season and the last time Orlando had taken a loss was on November 14th, also in Brooklyn against the Nets.  This time the Nets led by 21 points at the end of the first quarter, 25 in the second quarter, and they prevented the Magic from setting an all-time franchise record win streak, defeating them 129-101.

Brooklyn got a game high 42 points from swingman Mikal Bridges, 22 points from Spencer Dinwiddie, and Cam Thomas finished with 20 points in his second game back from injury. For Orlando Franz Wagner had 20 points, Cole Anthony also had 20 points off the bench, and 2023 NBA rookie of the year Paolo Banchero added 19 points. But all three players shot under 50%. The Nets have a 10-9 record and currently hold the 9th spot in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn went on the road Wednesday night to face the Atlanta Hawks who were 1-game under .500 at 9-10.
