A routine day at a Norfolk pizza restaurant turned into a nightmare after an argument over a food order ended in a stabbing that sent a young employee to the hospital. Authorities have charged a couple with serious crimes following the violent altercation, leaving the community stunned by the brutal escalation.
Norfolk police responded to a MOD Pizza location at Premium Outlets Blvd this weekend after reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found a 24-year-old employee suffering from multiple abdominal wounds, with his injuries described as severe but not life-threatening. The man was rushed to the hospital, where doctors treated the horrifying injuries, which reportedly included exposed intestines.
The incident began with a dispute over a “botched order,” according to court documents. Catherine Harper, 45, was allegedly dissatisfied with her order and called her husband, Corey Harper, to intervene. Upon arriving, Corey Harper is accused of repeatedly stabbing the employee, leaving him gravely injured before fleeing the scene with his wife.
Police quickly apprehended the couple. Corey Harper faces charges of malicious wounding and brandishing a firearm, while Catherine Harper has been charged with conspiracy to commit malicious wounding. Both were denied bond by a magistrate and are being held at Norfolk City Jail.
MOD Pizza released a statement condemning the violence, emphasizing its commitment to safety and cooperation with law enforcement. “MOD Pizza has zero tolerance for behavior that escalates conflicts, whether initiated by a guest or a team member,” the statement read. The investigation remains ongoing as the community processes the shocking events.
